When is the application portal open?
The application portal opens on October 6, 2025 at 9:00 am PDT, and closes on October 12, 2025 at 11:59 pm PDT.
How long is the program?
The program will run for six months, beginning in early 2026.
What is the expected monthly time commitment for participants?
If selected, participants will be expected to participate in all activities in order to maintain enrollment in the program. In addition to masterclasses, time commitments will include a retreat in Cupertino (date to be determined), opportunities to participate as a visiting director on an Apple Studios series, and meetings with Apple Studios executives, showrunners, and producers as opportunities arise.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any mid-career director who is eligible to work in the United States is welcome to submit an application. The program is open to individuals from all backgrounds, and we continue to make selection decisions based on qualifications in compliance with applicable laws.
The program is for “mid-career” directors. What does that mean exactly?
Generally, we consider a mid-career director to be someone with at least 3 scripted directing credits on either a film, web series, or episodic series.
What information is needed to apply?
Applicants will be asked to supply basic contact information (demographic information is optional), upload a resume or bio, submit two samples of their work, and answer two short-form questions. Should applicants advance to the next round, they will be contacted for a virtual meeting with our program team.
Are letters of recommendation required?
No. Letters of recommendation are not needed.
Can I apply if I’m not a DGA member?
Yes. Both DGA and non-DGA members are welcome to apply.
I direct with a partner. Can we apply as a team?
No. This program is for individual applicants only.
Is there an application fee?
No. It is free to apply.
Will I be notified if I have moved forward in the participant selection process?
You will be notified by email if you have advanced to the virtual meeting stage of the process.
When will the final decisions be made?
The final participants will be notified in January 2026.
What costs does the program cover for participants?
Reasonable costs associated with travel will be covered for all program participants per Apple Studios’ travel and expense policy along with any accommodations required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
